Wall•E

I actually convinced my mom to come with Gretchen, Michael, and I to go out to eat at Green Mill and then to go see Wall•E.

She loved it and is doing QUITE WELL right about now. She's very mobile and the pain level is at a mild discomfort.

How awesome is that?

Home Again, Home Again...

Well I think the title says it all... MARY IS FINALLY HOME. Thank you to everyone for all of your support. Also thanks to everyone who came to visit her and sent her gifts and flowers. We all really appreciate it.

This is Mary, safe and sound at home.
Sleeping in the new recliner that she purchased before hand for this very reason.

Mary's current status

Last night mary had a fever of 101, but this morning it was 99... so that's good. They still don't know if she's getting out tonight or tomorrow... but they started taking her off the pain block and started her on oral medication. So we'll see how it goes...

she's feeling a little sleepy... so that will be all for right now.
Will update later.

Day two in the Hospital

Mary today...
looks like she's going good... says she's doing excellent.  9/10 status

This is the stuffed uterus that I gave her as soon as she got out of surgery...

along with the card I made.

And here are the flowers that her loving co-workers sent her.

She's walking now and using the bathroom without a catheter.
Still don't know when she's coming home... probably Thursday.

All is GOOD!

Doctor Just came out and said that EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT! There was nothing wrong with anything. She said that she checked out her abdomen and her intestines are good and her liver is perfect. Very good liver she said. NO CANCER AT ALL!

They DIDN'T need to take the lymph nodes, which was a concern. No hyperplasia. There was a small cyst that was benign.

She's in recovery right now and will be in her own room in about an hour or so.
Thanks for all the support.      :)

In the Waiting Room

My mom, dad, and I showed up and were directed to the waiting room. We were told that we would have to wait for them to call my mom in, to put on her gown and stuff, then they would call us and we could hang out till surgery. We then have to come BACK to the waiting room and wait till the surgery is over... probably about a couple hours.

... thank god for the internet ...

Mary M Johnston, the first BLOG

hello, my name is Jared... weird hugh? I am starting this blog for my mother, Mary Margaret Johnston, who is going into surgery tomorrow.

Surgery is scheduled for 7:45 am, tomorrow, 23 June.

On this blog I hope that my mom will keep up with things going on in her life. There will probably be quite a bit of book reviews on this site, but for the most part, it will be EVERYTHING MARY.

We will start by keeping you up on how her recovery is going. She will be in the hospital (Abbott Northwestern) for a couple of days, and I will be the pilot of this site until then.
When she gets home, I will introduce her to this whole thing and she will take the wheel.

I will be keeping this up to date daily until I let her take the helm.
That's it for now... I will be back on tomorrow with how the surgery went, what the doctor said, and with a nice big photo of her recovering.

until then
